Jessica in Paris
Hello from Paris! I’ve been here, I think, for about three weeks now, but I’ve been quite happy, and consequently have not felt the need to write anything. Here are some of my [very brief] thoughts about the Emily in Paris show:
Whoever wrote this show has never a) had a job or b) been to Paris.
French people are not like this.
American people are, unfortunately, extremely Like This.
God, I hope no one thinks I’m like her.
Oh God, I hope no one thinks I think I’m like her!
Oh Dear God, I’m Like Her.
It would seem that the only demographic these people have a read on are “men who study philosophy,” which is especially damning on the part of everyone who studies philosophy. Semiotics, is it literary theory? Is it comp Lit? These people don’t seem to care, and for once, I’m with them.
Jobs don’t work this way, French people don’t work this way, the Fashion industry, Instagram and the property market don’t work this way. WHY THEN, do I want so dearly — SO dearly that it gives me hope — for human relationships to work this way? Vive l’amour? Vive monogamy, more like!

post very short because it’s the only thing i can summon, but if i can push myself I’ll be writing about Natalie Barney’s sexual proclivities, an art show I attended in Athens, and a conference au Centre Pompidou in the coming days
